Exploring how AI is changing the way we think about film.
For more than twenty years, I have worked as a film director and storyteller. My films have been recognized with the German Film Award (Lola) and nominations for the European Film Award, the Grimme Prize, and the German Television Award. Works such as alaska.de, Ich werde nicht schweigen, and Das weiße Schweigen have shaped my understanding of cinematic storytelling.
Since 2023, I have been exploring a new frontier: AI filmmaking.
I didn't turn to AI because it makes filmmaking faster or cheaper. I turned to it because it changes something far more fundamental.
I believe AI is not simply changing how films are made. It is changing how stories are created.
For the first time in cinema history, writing, visual development, and production are beginning to merge into a single creative process. Instead of imagining a finished film before bringing it to life, we can now discover stories through the act of creating them. Images no longer come at the end of the process—they have become part of the thinking that shapes it.
I believe this changes the role of the filmmaker.
Directors become explorers. Writers become visual thinkers. Storytelling becomes increasingly iterative.
Through my films, lectures, workshops, and artistic research, I explore what this transformation might mean for the future of cinema. I see AI not as a replacement for human creativity, but as a new cinematic language, one that expands how we imagine, develop, and tell stories.
I don't believe we are simply witnessing another technological shift.
I believe we are witnessing the birth of a new language of storytelling. And with it, a new way of thinking about cinema.

Workshops
I teach as I work — with open tools, a running timeline, and a director's eye for what matters: what is this scene truly doing, and how do we make the model deliver it? Professional to professional.
Request a workshop5-50 min. The state of AI in narrative filmmaking — what works on set, what doesn't, what's coming.
Case studies from my own AI shorts: directing, prompting, editing, sound. and newest developments.
Hands- on Workshops. Participants build a short AI film from concept to cut, with a working director's feedback.
